Teaneck, NJ - William Joseph Ryan Jr., 56, husband of Mrs. Betty (Boehn) Ryan, of 196 Ayers Court, The Plaza, former Bristol, Conn. Resident, died Sunday at home after a long illness.
Born in Bristol, Conn. On June 8, 1924, a son of Mrs. Larena (Harden) Ryan and the late William J. Ryan Sr., he attended local schools. A well-known musician, he played with and wrote arrangements for several local bands including all Gentile and Hal MacIntyre and for big-name bands such as Raymond Scott and Art Mooney Orchestras and Joe Mooney Jazz Quartet. An Army veteran of World War II, his memberships included Musicians Local of Bristol.
In addition to his mother of Bristol and wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lory Gwyn, of Brielle; two sons, Andrew and Paul Ryan, both of Kearney; two brothers, Richard of Teaneck and Robert Ryan of Bristol; a sister, Mrs. Michael Palaia of Bristol; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Thursday, 9 a.m. from Volk Funeral Home, Teaneck Road, to St. Anastasia Church for a Mass at 10.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 pm. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society.25 |
