Notes for Martha "Mattie" Hedspeth |
In 1880 she lived in Watanga Co., NC with her husband, listed as mulatto - 4 children born
In 1900 she lived in Mitchell Co., NC 11 children born and only 10 living.
In 1910 she lived in Pittsburgh, PA at 2051 Rose Street
The 1910 Census lists her as earning her own income, she read and wrote, and she rented her home. Also living with her a daughter-in-law Annie b. abt. 1887 in Virginia age 23, widowed, but I am not sure who Annie's husband was. Also grandson Henry 1/12 & Granddaughter age 10 Winnifred who appear to be Annie's children. Annie's husband wasn't Walter, Omer, James, Charlie, Edward (living) or Hardin (too young). Could have been Hugh Richard, William D., or Otto. SFM
in 1920 she lived in Los Angeles CA at 1418 East 17th St. with her son Walter and granddaughter Winnifred, age 19, born NC, both parents born NC
Juanita told me about a cousin Winifred who always drank - and had long red hair. |
