William Ross Torrance Obituary: William R. Torrance died May 3 at the VA Medical Center in Lyons, NJ. He was 80.
Born in Kearny, Mr. Torrance had lived in Kearny for over 60 years and then lived in Sea Girt and Spring Lake before moving to Bernards Township seven years ago.
He had been a commercial real estate agent in the Newark area for many year. He was a very active Republican Party worker in Kearny and had campained for Presidents Eisenhower and Nixon. His father was a mayor of Keanry during the 1920's and 1930's. He served in the Army Air Force in WWII.
Mr. Torrance's wife Ethel died in 1982. Survivors include two daughters, Susan T. Smith of Atlanta, GA., and Deborah Torrance of Denville, NJ; one sister, Betty Staats of Ocean Ridge, FL.; three grandchildren and one great grandson.
A Memorial Service was held at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ on May 6.159 |
