Obituary: Hazel Rose Washington Bryant
Hazel Rose Washington Bryant was born on August 2, 1914 in Georgia, she and her parents moved to Newark, New Jersey in 1925 where she lived briefly before moving to Kearny, New Jersey. Hazel graduated from Kearny High School in 1934 and received her Beauty Culture and Hairdressing Degree from Apex Beauty College in October 1939.

Hazel Married Aaron Bryant on November 10, 1940 and in 1955 she and Aaron moved their family to 52 South Maple Avenue, East Orange, NJ. Hazel resided in East Orange for the next 37 years. She was active in the Thirteenth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Newark, NJ where she was a member of the Dean Choral group. She was also an acive member of the Munn Avenue Presbyterian Church. Hazel spent most of her life as a homemaker and demonstrated her love and commitment to children by raising her siblings, other relatives, eighteen foster children in addition to her own. In 1973 she began working at Lincoln Elementary School in the East Orange Public School System as a dietary aide.

After the passong of her beloved husband and daughter, in 1992, Hazel moved with her son Aaron to Newprot Richey, Florida. During her time in Florida she was active in her local church. Hazel returned to New Jersey in 2000 where she enjoyed the remainder of her life living in Mercer County in the care and company of her granddaughters and great grandchildren.

The daughter of Jesse and Amanda Washingfon, hazel was predeceased by her husband Aaron Bryant and two of her children, Barbara Carol Bryant-Hicks (Ronald) and Vincent Alston. hazel is survived by her three sons Aaron Gilbert (Carmen) Bryant, mark Colin (Shirley) Bryant and Jesse Keith (Sharon) Bryant. She also leaves to cherish her loving memories eight grandchildren :Deidre (Greg) Allen of Ewing, NJ; Simone Ladson Baitley of Rockville, MD; Hope Witter of Plainsboro, NJ; Holly Bryant of East Orange, NJ Rahmid Page Bryant of Bloomfield, NJ; Travis Bryant of Freehold, NJ; and Amber and Taylor Bryant of Montclair, NJ. Ten great grandchildren: Austin, Imani, Nia, RTyan, Gebereal, Aja, Brandon, Bobbi, Zion and Anthony. One brother, Booker T. Washingon; three sisters, Louise Elizabeth (Leonard) Neal, Inez Barbara Stroud, Madeira Doreen Stephens and neice Cheryl Stroud. Along with other nieces, nephews, cousins and an abundance of loyal friends.355

Obituary: Aaron Bryant was born in Donaldsonville, Georgia on July 3, 1916 to the loving parents of Titis and Easter Bryant.

He was raised in Florida and moved to New Jersey at the age of twenty-one. He resided with his father and worked as a Long Shoreman for a short period of time.

On November 10, 1940, Aaron married Hazel Washingon of Kearny, NJ and from that union they had five children, Barbara Bryant-Hicks, Aaron Gilbert Bryant, Mark Collin Braynt, Jesse Keith Bruant and Vincent Alson.

He was baptized at Thirteenth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Newark. Aaron and his family lived in Kearny, NJ, from 1940 to 1955, and then moved to East Orange, NJ. He established a business called AB Scrap Metal, while providing a secure and comfortable home for his family. He was a good and trusted friend to the community. His wit, charm and joking nature enhanced the lives of many people.

After fighting a debilitating illness Aaron succumbed on September 14, 1987. Those who knew him knew he fought a long illness.

In addition to his loving wife Hazel, he leaves to mourn his children Barbara Bryant Hicks, Aaron Gilbert Bryant, Mark Collin Bryant, Jesse Keith Brant and Vincent Alson. He also leaves eight grandchildren, Deidre J. Jicks, Simone Bryant, Hope B. Hicks, Holly A. Bryant, Rahmid Page-Bryant, Travis A. Bryant and Amber N. Bryant. He is predeceased by his sister Cahterine Braynt and his parents. He leaves a host of friends and relatives.

Aaron Bryant, we will miss you, but we will never forget all you have given and what you meant to us. Your spirit is our legacy.357
