Her father was holding her when he died. Obituary: Sara Angeles Gwyn Wooling was born August 11, 1913 in Los Angeles California. She passed into eternal life on Wednesday, August 19, 1987 at 7:30pm. She came to Pittsburgh as an infant with her parents, the late James and Aquilla Gwyn. Sara was the third of four children, namely, Lola Payne, James Gwyn, and the late David Gwyn. She was educated in the Pittsburgh Public Schools graduating from Allegheny High School. Sara was a graduate of the Harty Bible School of Christian Tabernacle, the church of which she was a lifetime member. Over the years she served the Lord in a variety of capacities such as a choir member, President of the Young People's society, sang with the Young People's Quartet and truly enjoyed coordinating the dining room activities for the annual church assembly. She was best remembered for duets she sang with her husband Howard C. Wooling for over 50 years. On November 17, 1939, Sarah Angeles Wooling was joined in marriage to Howard Carter Wooling. To this union was born six children: Howard James Wooling of Newark, California, Robert David Wooling of Renick, West Virginia, Sandra Angeles Chen of Framingham, Massachusetts; Sara Aquilla Foster of Kingston, Jamaica; Leonard Charles Wooling of Marietta, Georgia and Kenneth Carter Wooling of Roxbury, Massachusetts. Sara Wooling is remembered as a loving mother and devoted wife. She loved to sing and found great joy in all forms of music. She loved the Lord and enjoyed many aspects of the Lord's service. Sara Wooling will be missed by all whose lives she touched. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, six children, a brother and sister, two son in laws: George Chen and William Forster, four daughter in laws: Ernestine, Autumn, Glorietta and Robin Wooling' seven special sister in laws: Bernice Jackson, Virginia Humphrey, Gladys Owns, Eloise Bugg, Frances Hill, Helen Sookwah and Elizabeth Gwyn, eighteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.218 | |||||||||||||
