Obituary: Richard T. Ryan, 71, of Ocala, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003. Richard was born January 10, 1932 in Bristol, a son of William and Larena Ryan. He is survived by his sister, Betty Palaia of Bristol and his brother, Bob Ryan of Ocala, Fla. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Ryan Jr. of Teaneck, NJ. He was married to Lenora Lawson (now Lenora Woods of Perris, Calif.) in 1953. They had 5 children, Richard Ryan Jr. of San Bernardino, Calif., Dave Ryan of Arcata, Calif., Lisa Glancy of Moreno Valley, Calif., and two sons, Mike and Billy who preceded him in death. Richard served 22 years in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. His military assignments took him to Honolulu, Hawaii, Petaluma, Calif., Riverside, Calif., San Antonio, Texas, Bermuda and Orlando, Fla. He was an excellent bowler and amassed quite a collection of trophies and awards through years of leagues and tournaments. He was born into a musical family and was a jazz aficionado. Although not an instrumentalist himself, he had a musician's sensibilities and a deep appreciation for good music. In recent years, he was known to publicly display his vocal talents via karaoke. Richard is survived by five grandchildren, Angela Gepson of Mesa, Ariz., Melissa Ryan, Dylan Ryan, and Hayden Ryan of Arcata Calif. and Michael Glancy of Moreno Valley, Calif. He had one great-grandchild, Aspen Gepson of Mesa, Ariz. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Kim Ryan, of Arcata, Calif. and a son-in-law, Ricky Glancy of Moreno Valley, Calif., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will be buried at tthe National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. |
