| Notes for Michael Leatherman |
| Michael went to Washington Co., Pa., from Frederick Co., Md., when a young man. In 1792, 193 acres of the original 393.138 acre purchase of Daniel Leatherman was deeded by him to Michael Leatherman. Upon resurvey, after Michael's death, the farm was found to contain 195 acres. THe Orphan Court Docket in Dec., 1811, shows that of Michael's children, Catherine, Daniel, Peter and Joseph at that time were minor over 14 years of age and chose their own guardians; Catherine chose Jacob Swinehart, Daniel chose John Leatherman, Peter chose Richard Richardson and Joseph chose Jonathan Leatherman...368 |
