Enoch Sandford Obituary: In the Name of God amen, I Enoch Sandford of New Barbadoes Neck in the County of Bergen and State of new Jersey, being broken and afflicted in Body, but of sound and disposing Mind and Memory, (blessed be God) do this Day being the Twenty and sixth day of January Anno Domini One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety eight make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in the Manner and Form following, that is to say, In the first place I give devise and bequeath to my Brother Elijah and sister Elizabeth that certain part of portion of my Lot of Land adjoining the Lands of Peter Sandford as is herein after described lying and being in the Precinct of New Barbadoes aforesaid, viz. the same to Begin at the ______________ River Passaic and from there the whole Breadth of my said Lot as far up as to my Orchard the same lying bounded westerly by said River, Northerly by the Land of said Peter Sanford, easterly by my said orchard and southerly by the Land of Abraham Sanford to have and to hold to my said Brother Elijah and Sister Elizabeth their heirs and assigns forever, secondly I give devise and bequeath to my Brother Benjamin, Three Acres of my said abovementioned lot of Land, the same to Begin at the Easternmost Line of the Portion of Land as above bequeathed to my Brother Elijah and sister Elizabeth, and to extend Easterly, the whole Breadth of my Lot, so far as to include Three Acres to have and to hold said last described. Three Acres of Land to my said Brother Benjamin his heirs and assigns forever, thirdly all the residue and remainder of my said Lot of Land that lies bounded Easterly by the Lands of Frances Tuers, Southerly by the Lands of Abraham Sandford, Northerly by the Land of Peter Sanford and Westernly by the Easternmost line of the Land as above bequeathed to my Brother Benjamin, I give devise and bequeath to my said Brother Benjamin during his Natural Life, after the decease of my said Brother Benjamin, I give devise and bequeath the same to Enoch Sanford the son of my said Brother Benjamin and to his heirs and assigns forever, in case said Enoch shall die under age and without issue lawfully begotten, in such case I devise and bequeath the same to Elijah the son of my Brother Benj In Fee Simple, in case said Elijah shall die under age and without issue lawfully begotten, I then bequeath the last mentioned Portion of Land to Ebenezer the son of my Brother Benjamin his heirs and assigns forever. Fourthly I give devise and bequeath to my brother Elijah my youngest Calf, to hold to him his heirs and assigns, Fifthly, I give devise and bequeath to my sister Elizabeth, her heirs and assigns my calf that is ____ Years old, Sixthly the Residue of my Cattle all my sheep and all my Residue of Personal Estate wheresoever the same may be found I give devise and bequeath to my Brother Benjamin and to his heirs and assigns forever, lastly I do nominate, constitute and appoint my beloved brother Benjamin and Elijah executors of this my last Will and Testament.591 |
Will of Sophia Sandford:
In the Name of God Amen I Sophia Sandford of New Barbados Neck in the County of Bergen & State of New Jersey, Being thru the abundant Mercy and Goodness of God, tho weak in body, yet of a sound and perfect Understanding and Memory, do constitute this my last Will and Testament and desire it may be received by all as such. Imprimis I most humbly bequeath my Soul to God my Maker beseeching his most gracious acceptance of it through the all Sufficient Merits and Mediation of my most Compassionate Redeemer Jesus Christ, who I trust will not reject me a returning penitent Sinner, when I come to him for mercy; in this hope and Confidence I render up my soul with comfort to God to prepare me for the time of my Dissolution, and then to take me to himself into that peace and rest which he has prepared for all that love and fear his Holy Name, Amen. Blessed be God. Imprimis I give my body to the Earth from whence it was taken in full assurance of is Resurrection from thence at the last day. As for my burial I desire it may be decent without pomp or state at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named who I doubt not will manage it with all requisite prudence. As to my Worldy Estate I will and positively order that all my Just debts be paid. Item my Will is and I give unto my Son Enoch all that lot of Meadow which I bought of Samuel Pennington I say unto Son Enoch during his natural life and after his death that then the said Meadow be divided between my two children Benjamin and Jane in the following manner that is to my son Benjamin the one Equal fifth part of the said Meadow to him his Heirs and Assigns for Ever. The Other for fifths of the said meadows to my Daughter Jane to her Heirs and Assigns forever. Item my will is and I give unto my son Benjamin and my Daughter Jane all the remaining part of my Real Estate that is to say all my Lands and Meadows. Both in Bergen County and in the County of Essex together with all my Personal Estate to be Divided between them in the following manner: To my Son Benjamin the one Equal fifth part of the whole to him his heirs and assigns forever and the other four fifth parts of the Whole to my Daughter Jane to her her Heirs and Assigns forever. And lastly I do constitute and appoint my Loving Daughter Jane to be the Executrix of this my last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fourteenth day of June in the year of our Lord 1779.603 |
